Holiday in Goa
at Siolim House, a Goa heritage hotel in Goa India
Enjoy your holidays at a colonial
Goan ancestral villa, one of the very few remaining
in the 16-18th century Indo-Portuguese style of
the casa de sobrado, which preceded the casa de
patio style, India, now a small luxury villa Goa
hotel to enjoy in privacy.

Two hundred and seventy five years of history.
At one time the house belonged to a governor
of Macau, and still has the porcelain china
grills that the senhor brought from the east.
Later on other members of the family were
administrators in Portuguese Mozambique, which
is where its other name 'Mosmimcar', 'The
Mozambican', comes from. Today the house
is a home for its family and doubles as a
welcoming villa heritage hotel in Goa, India,
mostly when the family is not there. The villa
is also let out on a weekly basis for larger
groups. It is located in an area where there
are no hotels and therefore, you are guaranteed
an authentic feel of one of the most charming
villages in Goa . As regards access to Goa's
beaches - we can hardly be beaten, that is
if you like the remoter less frequented and
prettiest beaches of North Goa, like Morjim,
Ashwem and Mandrem.
With renovation complete since 2001, Siolim House is now available as a
tastefully decorated heritage villa hotel in the typical Goa colonial
architectural style, and also for groups of friends and families to enjoy in
large groups.

Siolim House has only 7 large suite
accomodation named after trading ports of
the 17th century (the century in which Siolim
House was built), including one two roomed
apartment (all with ensuite facilities) sleeping
a total of 16. There is also an exclusive
guests-and-friends-of-guests-only restaurant,
that serves home food. All this built on on
a total of 12,000 sq. ft., Siolim House is
perfect for those looking for an original
place to stay and for some p e a c e....
Note that we do not make a claim to be a
'luxury Goa hotel', or never wanted to be
one but simply promise to offer you our keenest
hospitality. Be aware also that there are
many things we chose not to have such as in-room
TVs, airconditioning, etc, considered standard
in 5 star and luxury hotels. Also there may
be occasional inconveniences linked with our
being in a village or being subject to Goa's
electric supply. We feel luxury is about you
being able to enjoy the time you have and
all we do is to assist that. If all this works
for you, then in exchange we will offer you
anything reasonable based on 100% effort to
make your holiday succesful.

The house has seven bedrooms
(including two suites) named after trading
ports/areas of the 18th century mostly along
the Konkan coast where Goa is located, during
the time Siolim House was at its prime. Each room or suite has
attached tastefully designed large bathrooms.
There is a large garden with bursting bouganvilla
bushes and fragrant trees and a pergola
in what we call the "secret garden", a fully
equipped kitchen, an inner pillared courtyard
with a mosaic fountain and a part that even
has a step well that provides water for
the house. There are several large halls,
and an 12.5 meter overflow swimming pool,
great for laps! You can see it on the photos
page.

Today a small boutique
Goa hotel, Siolim House is an exceptional
example of Goan architecture - a fusion
of European and Indian styles in what was
the earliest permanent meeting for the two
cultures. As regards the accommodation in
our boutique hotel, there are four guest
rooms in the front building (Macao and Macassar
on the first floor, and Malabar and Bahia
on the ground floor), and three (Cambay,
Damao and Surat) in the rear around the
pillared courtyard. Macao and Malabar are
the suites, with the latter having 2 large
bedrooms. You can see photos on this site
too and the architectural plan for the ground
floor and for the first floor will give
you a better idea of the layout of the property.
